Though there are many wildly popular Greek Islands, Santorini tends to be the most heavily talked about island of the Grecian Archipelago.

readingsLocated in the volcanic islands of the Southern Aegean Sea, Santorini is one of the most stunningly diverse Greek Islands in the archipelago. Because of this fact it quickly became one of the more popular greek island destinations and has grown in popularity right up until this day.

Santorini is a wonderful place to see the breath-taking views of the Aegean sea because of it's numerous high points and unique perspective on some of the surrounding islands.

Having been created by volcanic eruptions long ago, just as with any other Greek Islands holidays, Santorini provides glimpses of the volcanic activity still going on deep underneathe the islands.

There are many more things to see beyond this however, with the island's sunsets being a notable highlight of your stay there. The colours during the day are also a thing to marvel at with whitewashed buildings contrasting fantastically with the glazen blue ocean that surrounds Santorini and all of the other Cyclades.

History enthusiests can take a lot away from a visit to the island especially, with locations like the ruins of Mesa Gonia, and the remaining parts of Pyrgos' Incredible Venesian castle and Byzantine churches being some of the more notable.

Also a favourite with cruise ship travellers, the Greek Islands' Santorini is one destination which has become a principle stop-off island. Those who are longing for some time spent by the sea are in for a treat with this island in particular. Many people appreciate the topless freedom of Red Beach, whilst other are still numerous others which can be found for more conservatism. Also worth paying a visit are the brilliant beaches of Kamari and Perissa which are covered in black pebbles!

If you want to see a different side to the Greek Islands and Santorini, it's often recommended that you try visiting in the off months of either Spring- or Autumn-time. These will be much less crowded periods and make for a more quiet absorbtion of the sights that are aplenty on this fabulous island.

When you visit the island, try to pick a lime of year that you think will best suit your tastes, as the different times of the year will present quite different experiences as regards tourists and partying. Obviously, Santorini is quite well renouned for it's ability to host a wild party, so make sure you visit during the high months to see this in full swing. If you prefer the geographical natural beauty more so than that of young men and ladies, be sure that you have booked a trip when others are less likely to!

Accommodation on the island of Santorini should be more attractive to those who love to be right by the sea but are travelling on a budget, as beach-side bedding can be obtained for much less than on the higher altitude parts of the island such as in and around Fira or Imerovigli.

However, if you are an altitude junkie, don't despare are there are often great deals to be had on hotels and other accommodation right across the island. Also, there are plenty of smaller hostels on the island which can be taken advantage of at very reasonable prices, and there are always bargains to be had if you put the time in to search a little deeper.

Undoubtably, Santorini is one of the most popular Greek Islands for a good reason! There is plenty to see and do when visiting the island, and one can plan a trip virtually any time of the year for a great, yet slightly different experience of this iconic island.
